Tips to Be a 190+ Scorer
If you are already around 90% in your first-year exams, you are so righteous to expect 180+ in your MDCAT. But why just 180+, here we will aim for the highest. I will give you guys some tips to be a 190+ scorer.
1.Dive in the Theme of Study Material:
There are a lot of minute details and concepts that we usually overpass while studying. We do focus in the main points like a Reactant A is being converted into a Product B with some certain conditions. Of course, we remember the names of A and B and the conditions but majority of us don’t go in the theme of the reaction. We should focus:
- What is the homologous category of Reactant A?
- What is the homologous category of Product B?
- Were the conditions for and addition/elimination/ substitution/ oxidation/ reduction reaction?
With focus on this aspect, try to make similar reactions yourself. For example, if the reactant A was propanol, try to generate the product while taking reactant A as ethanol. Going into the theme of what you study is a key point for high scoring.
Tension is a disease that has onset usually when our full-length exams start and it lasts till, we fill the last bubble in exam sheet. The word we refer to as tension is not just a word, it constitutes a whole lot of pressurizing feelings that adversely affect our brain and reduce its retaining capacity.
Mostly, in test centers, the situation is tough. We see thousands of candidates just like us; and a depression usually creeps us at that time, “Where am I, among all these?” This hits us bad, reduces our morale and pours a certain tension in our brain. Believe me, this tension is fatal.
The counterpart of tension is confidence in this case. If you have hard worked in those precious three months and your preparation is sound, you need not be tensed. Believe me, all those candidates you see havering in the exam center have memorized nothing except their roll numbers. So, be calm. Composed and confident. These are the three C’s adopted on test day. Insha Allah you’ll come back after achieving your goal.
3. Attempt A lot of Practice Exams:
Only the act of paper solving can polish your paper solving skills. After making sure that all the information held in your books and helping material is fully integrated in your brain, solve practice papers. Otherwise, you can be demoralized.
There are certain key aspects of the preparation of MDCAT, that can only be understood by attempting a lot of papers:
- Mental calculation of numerical type questions; after attempting a lot of this kind question, you can do it at a much faster pace.
- Sometimes, a certain MCQ is also repeated. How would you feel if an MCQ you solved comes same to same in your MDCAT? 😊
- After going through Practice exams repeatedly, you are now more likely to understand the sense of question quickly and easily as compared to other candidates.
4.Walk through the Conceptual Side:
While preparing for the MDCAT, there are two sides:
- Cramming Side
- Conceptual Side
The theme of the MDCAT is: to focus on the concepts. So, if you are at the cramming side, make sure to turn towards the conceptual side. Cramming is not only more time taking but low marks scoring too.
Hope this article helped you guys. Stay tuned for further helpful materials. Happy Preparation. 😊
